You are not alone

It’s hard to explain to those that don’t know, what it is like to lose a friend to suicide. It’s hard to accept that kind of loss or describe the unavoidable hole that’s left behind. It’s hard to express the lingering sadness that transforms itself over time, attaching to your ribs so it can breath with you; never truly leaving the insides you try so desperately to protect. On average, 123 Americans die by suicide each day. Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death among 15-24 yr olds. There is one death by suicide in the U.S. every 12 minutes. Warning signs include: talking about wanting to die or kill themselves, looking for a way to kill themselves, talking about feeling hopeless or having no reason to live, talking about feeling trapped or in unbearable pain, talking about being a burden to others, increasing the use of alcohol or drugs, withdrawing or isolating themselves, extreme mood swings. If you or someone you know is in crisis, call the Lifeline (USA) at 1-800-273-8255 OR Text SIGNS to 741741 for 24/7, anonymous, free crisis counseling. If you get the feeling that someone might be in danger call the crisis line or 911 right away. Rather be safe than sorry. You will get through these hard times, stay strong and don't be afraid of asking for help. You are not alone. “I read somewhere… how important it is in life to not necessarily to be strong… but to feel strong” (Into The Wild Movie).

much love, light, and peace,

Sarah Field
